National County Team Championships 2008

Surrey Swimming team came 6th in the National Inter-County event at Sheffield on 19th October. This was the first time the county has been in the top 8 for some years and shows that we may be a small county but swimming is thriving! Our first ‘medalist’ came with a 3rd place in the senior boys 100m freestyle, Alfie Howes, who has just moved to Wales to train. Vincent De Raucourt followed in his footsteps in the Junior freestyle as did Tom Godfrey in the intermediate breaststroke. William Robinson swam in the Junior boys backstroke and blew away the opposition in his heat giving him a second overall and a personal best time. Most of the swimmers exceeded their seeded place and time which shows that the coaching in the County is going from strength to strength, My congratulations to them all.
